Abstract
The numerous intercomparison programmes of personal dosemeters and dosimetry services organised by the Commission of the European Communities (CEC) are described. Recent changes to the CEC Technical Recommendations on individual monitoring are summarised. To illustrate the differences between various national dosimetry service accreditation programmes within Europe descriptions are given of the schemes currently in use within the United Kingdom and Germany
