Abstract

AbstractThis chapter focuses on the dynamics of international forest policy development and adoption. Specific topics covered include the following: two major changes in thinking about the main norms and principles guiding forest governance (a change from a governmental approach to a multi-actor and multi-level governance approach, and a related change from hard forest law to a more soft forest law approach); main policy issues in forest management; and key themes in forest policy (one that concerns the notion of the need to change the institutional structure of forest policy and to develop new arrangements for forest governance, and other major themes that concern either environmental issues or socioeconomic issues).
