Abstract

This paper reviews the story so far with the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles, introduced by the EU in 2001 in close consultation with the United States. This facilitates a process that permits the transfer of personal data to that country on terms that secure recognition of the data protection principles for the treatment and use of such data, as enshrined in Directive 95/46/EC.
