Abstract
In this paper, the main landmarks of the international cooperation in the field of information communication technologies and the Information Society are considered. The importance of the basic document on these problems, namely, the Okinawa Charter on the Global Information Society signed in 2000 at the summit of Group of Eight member countries in Japan is noted. The process of preparing and holding the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and its final acts adopted by consensus (Declaration of Principles and Action Plan adopted at the Geneva WSIS stage in December 2003, as well as the Tunis Commitment and the Tunis Agenda for the Information Society adopted at the Tunis WSIS stage on November 2005) are analyzed.
