Abstract
This study aims to examine the competitiveness of the Turkish textile and clothing sector. The competitiveness of the Turkish textile and clothing sector was examined, using Balassa’s RCA Index and Vollrath’s measures of competitiveness. This study on the competitiveness of the Turkish textile and clothing sector finds that the Turkish textile and clothing sector is competitive in world markets. However, in recent years, it was seen that there has been considerable decline in the competitiveness of clothing industry. In order to maintain the competitiveness of the Turkish textile and clothing sector it is necessary to focus on the production of high value-added goods and the policies should be developed to strengthen the sector's research and development capacity. http://dx.doi.org/10.17130/ijmeb.2018343115
