Abstract

109 TABLE I Relative size at the onset of maturity in Pandalid shrimp (data from Charnov, 1979) Notice that the constancy of the product k-ot means that RSOM is likewise a constant, with respect to the various ages of maturiy (which increase with latitude; Charnov, 1979; Butler, 1964). Since ea ( = SOM) differs greatly with both latitude and species, it is somewhat surprising that RSOM is near .55 independent of both variables. It would be interesting to know if RSOM behaves similarly for other crustacean groups. LITERATURE CITED BEVERTON, R. J. H., 1963. Maturation, growth and mortality of clupeid

Highlights

  • For 250 years, taxonomists have relied on having access to physical copies of published works in order to verify information about taxa

  • Even when the fourth edition of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN 1999) was published, it was clear that electronic publication could not be ignored (Ride 1999, 2003)

  • A summary of the draft amendment was presented at the International Congress of Zoology (ICZ) on August 27, during the Systema Naturae 250 symposium
