Abstract

Conflict in Sudan's Darfur Region led to a population influx to cities. Using the capability approach, this article examines the impact of displacement on capabilities of internally displaced persons (IDPs). Primary and secondary sources were accessed to collect data for the study. The article explores the perspectives of different stakeholders regarding resettlement of IDPs. In-depth interviews were conducted with IDPs and the representatives of both government and international organisations. While the research shows capability deprivations faced by IDPs, the study suggests that the solution to the predicament of IDPs depends on the participation of all stakeholders.
