Abstract

The turkey abnormality reported here was in the abdominal cavity of a 17-month-old Broad White turkey female. It was found under the abdominal skin when the abdominal cut was made for removing the viscera. It was not in the oviduct and was unattached. The 17-month-old turkey, along with others from a terminated experiment on reproductive performance, was being dressed for market.The object was oval in shape with one end more blunt than the other. It measured 13 cm. long and 6.8 cm. in diameter (Figure 1) and weighed 455 grams. The anomaly was very light tan in color and was soft in texture. After a picture was taken of the intact object, it was cut open. In the center was a hard-shelled egg which weighed 90 grams. The hard-shelled egg was broken open for examination.
