Abstract

A study was made of internal friction for CuMn alloys containing from 40 to 79 wt. % manganese. It was found that alloys rich in copper exhibit very high damping capacity in the cryogenic temperature region. High manganese alloys of the system CuMn exhibit very good dissipation properties and also a number of other unique properties. Results of the study show that internal strain hardening depresses the high damping properties of CuMn alloys.
