Abstract

Different methods of internal fixation have been used to treat fractures of the proximal humerus. The main complication generally is secondary displacement. We decided to use a blade-plate for the fixation of 2, 3, and 4 parts fractures and we present our experience of 26 cases between 1996 and 1998. The results are generally good. For the few cases of secondary displacement we have observed, we made a special study. We concluded that this implant could decrease the indication of shoulder prosthesis, and also decrease the incidence of secondary displacement in comparison with conventional osteosynthesis devices.
