Abstract
On July 19, 1979, the Environmental Protection Agency proposed amendments to the National Interim Primary Drinking Water Regulations which included requirements that community water systems that distribute corrosivity of drinking water because of the potential health implications associated with corrosion byproducts, the degradation of the aesthetic quality of drinking water, and the significantly economic consequences of deteriorated materials in distribution systems. The May 1980 issue of JOURNAL AWWA reports the results of current research on internal corrosion, the costs involved, and the operational benefits of implementing a corrosion control program.
