Abstract
Three patients in the younger age group are described who are thought to have had intermittent volvulus of the sigmoid colon. Successful treatment was effected by sigmoid colectomy and end-to-end anastomosis. The incidence and aetiology of sigmoid volvulus are reviewed, with particular reference to its occurrence in younger patients.
