Abstract

AbstractDrift‐wave turbulence in the linear VINETA [1] device was studied using the adapted version [2] of the threedimensional gyrofluid code GEM3 [3]. The density and parallel velocity gyrofluid equations of electrons and ions for the cylindrical annulus are solved. It is shown that the code is able to reproduce the main experimental signatures of intermittency. The influence of the interaction of the plasma with neutrals – the so‐called ‘neutral wind’ – on the intermittent turbulence in VINETA is discussed. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
