Abstract
Originally described by Iddan in 2000 [1], capsule endoscopy (CE) is a technique that evaluates inaccessible portions of the bowel that may elude evaluation during push enteroscopy. The use of CE is increasing as clinical roles are being defined [2–4]. In particular, CE has proven significant incremental diagnostic sensitivity compared with small bowel follow-through in cases of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding [2, 5]. Capsule retention may occur in the presence of small bowel narrowing. With increasing use of the capsule, recognition of the distinctive radiographic and computed tomography (CT) appearance should be made by the radiologist. The plain radiograph and multidetector CT (MDCT) appearance of the PillcamTM (previously known as M2ATM) endoscopic video capsule (GIVEN® Imaging, Yoqneam, Israel) are presented in a patient with small bowel obstruction.
