Abstract

Dr. Murray McLachlan: Today’s case is that of a 34-year-old Asian-American man who presented to the Emergency Department (ED) with complaints of 2 weeks of intermittent fevers and chills with persistent generalized malaise. The patient stated that the fevers, which were as high as 40.0°C, responded to acetaminophen. One week before presentation, the patient began vomiting and was evaluated in another ED. He was treated with intravenous hydration and was discharged with the diagnosis of viral syndrome.
