Abstract
The multiplicity data of the NA22, KLM, and UA1 collaborations are analysed by means of probability distributions derived in the framework of the pure birth stochastic equation. The intermittent behaviour of the KLM and UA1 data is well reproduced by the theory. A comparison with the negative binomial distribution is also made.
