Abstract
This report is a capability study of intermediate strain rate testing using a hydraulic test machine. Details of the test machine setup, specimen geometries and the use of high-speed cameras for the measurement of strain using digital image correlation (DIC) are presented. Some experimental tests results of specimens loaded in tension are also provided. The results presented show some of the current limitations of testing at intermediate strain rates, leading to suggestions for further work.
