Abstract

We present an experimental study of the interlayer resistance and thermoelectric power (TEP) in the mixed state of the high-temperature superconductor Bi 2Sr 2CaCu 2O 8+ x and organic superconductor κ-( d 8,BEDT-TTF) 2Cu(NCS) 2 in the vicinity of T c. The behaviour of these quantities is discussed in terms of the Josephson coupling in these layered superconductors. In contrast to the tunnel origin of the Josephson coupling in Bi 2Sr 2CaCu 2O 8+ x , the superconductor-normal metal-superconductor coupling is suggested to take place in κ-( d 8,BEDT-TTF) 2Cu(NCS) 2. The observed difference in the temperature dependencies of the TEP and the resistance in the latter compound is related to the significant charge imbalance at the multiple NS boundaries.
