Abstract

The paper describes an experiment to measure the response of a tall building to wind loading, in order to provide data which can be used to assess the accuracy of current wind loading codes. The need to acquire very long lengths of data in order to obtain accurate and reliable results from spectral analysis of the data is discussed. Details of the instrumentation and analysis procedures are given, and interim findings from the first 1,000 hours of data collected are presented. The paper also gives results of forced vibration tests on the same building.
