Abstract

Low-field magnetization hysteresis curves have been investigated in the Ag2O doped LaBa2Cu3O 7−y system. An anomaly is observed in the initial magnetization curve at a certain field of H* less than 1 mT. It is neither a lower critical field of the weak link region HciJ nor a critical field for flux entry Hen. Sample thickness dependence of the magnetization loop width △M and field dependence of the hysteresis loss Q suggest a relationship between this anomaly and the maximum applied field Hs which can be screened at the midplane of samples in the framework of the critical state model. The behavior of the temperature dependence of △M at low temperature range agrees with the thermally activated flux creep model.
