Abstract

Most of us, if asked what was the constitution of Canada, would automatically answer the British North America Act. This is true only in part, for the constitution does not consist of any one document. Even though that act of the British Parliament does form the most important and specific part of it, important elements of Canada's constitution are contained in other acts, in British convention and custom, and decreasingly although still importantly in the Royal Prerogative.
