Abstract

A method for measuring the laser plasma flow field on the surface of a target with the use of a laser synchronous interference system is presented. A measuring theory for plasma parameters including temperature, pressure, density, and ionization degree is built. An interference measurement for laser plasma produced by a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser acting on an Al target surface has been made, and results are given for the plasma parameters. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
