Abstract
This paper commences with a brief summary of an instrument for verifying a surveyor's reference base-line and of experience with it, then proceeds to an outline of a direct derivative which can be used for the measurement of large lengths and diameters. Finally, a further modification is described which preliminary tests have indicated could provide useful information in the determination of the volumetric accuracy of machine tools and measuring machines
