Abstract

As network coding approach improves the throughput by routing flows close to each other for utilizing coding opportunities in wireless network, the interference increases and leads the bad network delay. In this paper, we propose a interference known network coding aware routing metric (INCM) with considering the tradeoff between increasing coding opportunity and decreasing wireless interference in delay-constrained wireless network environment. We model interference as two types (blocking transmission and interfering reception) and model network coding by ETX and adjustment of coded nodes ETX. Then we setup a LP model by considering interference with network coding. With the simulation by NS2, we compare INCM with other metrics, which only considers coding opportunity or interference. The simulation results show that our proposed metric has achieved better throughput and less delay.
