An analysis is presented of the performance of voice amplitude modulation (AM) and frequency modulation (FM) communication systems in the presence of direct-sequence (DS) spread spectrum (SS) signal. The effect of an interfering DS-SS signal on voice AM and FM receivers decreases by decreasing the DS signal power and/or its pseudo-noise (PN) code pulse duration (T c ).
