Abstract

The authors show from a comparison of the experimental angular distributions of one-neutron transfer reactions with those of elastic scattering that a specific phase rule emerges. This 'elastic-transfer phase rule' states that the oscillations in the neutron transfer cross section should be in phase with those of the elastic cross section. This feature is independent of the angular momentum transferred. Furthermore, they show how these results can be understood through semiclassical arguments.
