Abstract

Wireless body area network (WBAN) is a network of RF enabled wearable and implantable sensor nodes. Due to use of these networks in healthcare applications, reliability is an important metric. However, due to coexistence of other wireless technologies as well as presence of many WBANs in the same area, interference can persist. This interference can degrade reliability. In this regard, this paper presents the analysis of the interference issue in body area networks. Also this paper has made an effort to suggest an algorithm for interference mitigation using data rate parameter and thereby trying to improve the interference scenario in terms of packet loss ratio in WBANs.
