Abstract

The ratio of the interfacial free energy of coherent twin boundaries to the average grain boundary free energy in copper has been measured by means of the dihedral angles formed at the intersections of twin boundaries and grain boundaries with each other and with a copper/lead vapor interface. The mean value found for the ratio is 0.035±0.006.
