Abstract

The dispersion relations of interface dipolar plasmons are obtained for mono- and multilayer structures of molecular dipoles embedded in a nonpolar liquid. A system composed of dry multilayers of fatty acid molecules in which the terminal CH3 have been halogenated is suggested as an ideal structure for the observation of such dipolar plasmons. The results suggest that interface dipolar plasmons can be distinguished experimentally from single particle librational modes, as compared to bulk dipolar modes in polar liquids where such distinction is not possible.
