Abstract

To enhance the cyclic ablation performance of SiC coating from1750°C to room temperature under vertical oxyacetylene torch, interface design and HfC additive were combined. A porous surface of C/C composites was firstly constructed by oxyacetylene flame so as to form an inlaid interface after the pack cementation preparation of HfC-SiC coating. After 8 ablation thermal cycles, the mass loss per unit area of the HfC-SiC coating was only 36.47mgcm−2. Based on thermogravimetric analysis, adhesive strength and thermal expansion test, effect of the inlaid interface on oxidation as well as ablation performance of the HfC-SiC coating was discussed.
