INTERETHNIC RELATIONS IN THE TRANS-BAIKAL TERRITORY: CURRENT STATE AND DEVELOPMENTAL TRENDS (BASED ON THE MATERIALS OF SOCIOLOGICAL STUDY)

Abstract

Purpose. The article deals with the issues of interethnic relations as the object of sociological analysis, it also shows the specifics of the study of this type of relations in sociology. The author aims at sociological analysis of interethnic relations in such a multiethnic region as the Trans-Baikal Territory which is characterized by the heterogeneity of its national composition.
 Method or methodology of study. The research is based on a comparative method and on such sociological methods as online and expert survey.
 Results. The results of the research are based on the materials of sociological study that shows the current state of interethnic relations in the considered subject of the Russian Federation. The author determines the attitude of residents of the Trans-Baikal Territory to a particular nationality, identifies the causes and prospects of interethnic conflicts in the Trans-Baikal Territory, presents an expert assessment of relations between various diasporas of the Trans-Baikal Territory, their individual representatives and the authorities. The author concludes that the Trans-Baikal Territory being a multiethnic subject of the Russian Federation is characterized by relative stability of relations between representatives of different nationalities. However, great attention should be paid by the regional authorities to the fact that interethnic conflicts are not excluded on the territory of the region.
 Scope of the results. The study results can be applied in the management field of international and interethnic relations on the territory of the Trans-Baikal Territory.
