Abstract

Throughout the life of the project many issues were looked at, theoretical as well as practical. In this paper I willfirst briefly present the background of the project, what it was set up to do and its strategies. Then I willfocus my attention on one aspect of our methodology, that of 'dialectical anthropology' which is well worth debating. Finally, I willpresent some of the issues which we saw as leading towards an understanding of the patterns of cultural reproduction in the arts and inter-cultural communication. I will look at problems of 'ethnicity 'ethnic'perception and identity, 'authentication' and 'corruption' of culturalproducts in general and works of art in particular, which all are of great significance in these days where 'interculturalism' and 'multiculturalism' are so fashionable.
