Abstract
78 fifth-grade students were given 5 rhythm subtests from 3 standardized tests of musical aptitude: Seashore Measures of Musical Talents (Sense of Rhythm and Sense of Time), Drake Musical Aptitude Tests (Rhythm Test Form A and Rhythm Test Form B), and Wing Standardized Tests of Musical Intelligence (Rhythmic Accent). Intercorrelations varied from .59 (Drake A—Drake B) and .56 (Seashore Rhythm—Drake A) to .08 (Drake B—Wing) and .05 (Seashore Time—Wing). Test-retest and split-half reliability coefficients were also obtained for each subtest from separate groups of undergraduate students. Test-retest reliabilities varied from .37 (Drake B) to .88 (Seashore Rhythm), and split-half reliabilities varied from .60 (Wing) to .90 (Drake).
