Abstract

The dynamical response of an interconnected suspension system on a standard sport motorcycle is investigated. The paper contains the geometrical analysis of the interconnection system, an explanation of the mathematical model of the motorcycle under study and the results for bump simulations under straight running conditions. The analysis is done by using the state space representation of the motorcycle model which had been obtained by taking advance of VehicleSim software. Optimization processes are performed in order to find the best values of interconnection coefficients. Finally the work concludes that a better performance in terms of suspension precision and comfort can be achieved by an interconnected suspension system on this kind of motorcycle.KeywordsMotorcyclemodellingdynamicssuspensionVehicleSim
