Abstract

Summary Light induces the synthesis of a cellular division factor by the protonema cells of Ceratodon purpureus , which is translocated in both the acropetal and basipetal directions. A ramification factor (or factors) does not appear to be translocated or at least requires to this end the presence of cellular receptors which are only present in celle able to ramify.
