Abstract

The effects of geometrical confinement on the exciton binding energies and thereby the interband emission energy are investigated in wurtzite /Ga0.8Al0.2N and ZnO/ Zn0.607Mg0.393O quantum dots taking into account the geometrical confinement. The calculations are performed with the same barrier height of both the materials. The effects of strain and the internal electric field, induced by spontaneous and piezoelectric polarization, are taken into consideration in all the calculations.
