Abstract

The effects of five Meloidogyne spp. and one Pratylenchus and one Tylenchulus on growth of 18 Vitis cultivars were studied in microplots. Nematode population growth was assessed on each cultivar. Vitis vinifera cv. Thompson Seedless was used as a standard to compare host status of other grape cultivars. Resistant and susceptible responses were based on nematode reproduction and vine response. Grape cultivars 1613C, Dog Ridge, Freedom, Harmony, Teleki 5C, K51-32, and Ramsey were graded as susceptible to M. arenaria pt. Harmony and resistant to all other Meloidogyne spp. K51-32 and Ramsey were rated as resistant and Dog Ridge as moderately resistant against P. vulnus and T. semipenetrans. Meloidogyne arenaria pt. Harmony has the potential to be a major pest of grape rootstocks.
