Abstract

In the last few years, our understanding of how different types of neurotransmitters operate in the brain has advanced considerably (Boustfield, 1985; Meldrum et al., 1991). More recent studies are concentrated on the interaction of different types of neurotransmitters in specified areas of the Central Nervous System. The basal ganglia, has been one such area in the brain (Chiodo and Berger, 1986; Tanganelli et al., 1989; Carlsson and Carlsson, 1990; Consolo et al, 1992; Expósito et al., 1993).KeywordsBasal GanglionExcitatory Amino AcidAmino Acid NeurotransmitterInhibitory Amino AcidExcitatory Amino Acid NeurotransmitterThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
