Abstract
Triterpenoid saponins are plant compounds with important medical values; their biological function is closely related to their interactions with lipid membranes. For example, saponins can serve as antibacterial by destroying the integrity of bacterial membranes; saponins are also known to interact and modulate the composition and size of lipid domains in membranes. This study focuses on the interaction between four kinds of triterpenoid saponins and a lipid membrane model using a ternary mixture of POPE/POPG/DPPG (80:15:5 mol%).
