Abstract

Potentiometric and conductometric titrations were used to determinate the stochiometry of the yttrium and lanthanum hypophosphates, which are formed in the systems: M 3+ −H 4P 2O 6−H 2O and M 3+ −Na 2H 2P 2O 6−H 2O, where M 3+ = Y 3+, respectively. The experimental results have been interpreted in terms of formation of normal, M 4(P 2O 6) 3, and acid, MHP 2O 6, salts. The preparation of the acid salts YHP 2O 6·4H 2O and LaHP 2O 6·2H 2O is reported.
