Abstract

Yield data for six strains of Triticale for 2 years of testing in Canada and the United States were analyzed. Significant variety × location interactions were obtained in both years and the magnitudes of variety, variety × location interaction, and error components of variance were estimated. The relative values of the latter two components were found to be within the range (0.07–1.65) of those already reported in the literature for other polyploids. By the use of the estimated components of variance it was found that the best way to reduce the rather large yield increment detected by these trials was to increase the number of test sites within a year.
