Abstract
The interaction of two laser-induced cavitation bubbles was investigated experimentally.The dynamics of each individual bubble can be influenced by the oscillation and the shock wave emission of the other bubble. We tried to distinguish between both interaction mechanisms by introducing an interface between the cavitation bubbles that should only allow the shock wave mediated bubble interaction. Our photographs show that bubbles interact even through interfaces; an influence of the shock wave alone on a cavitation bubble, however, was not visible.
