Abstract

1. In the interaction of tantalum halides with lithium aluminum hydride, regardless of the ratio of the initial components, tantalum tetraaluminum hydride Ta(AlH4)4 is formed; during the reaction it already decomposes, eliminating aluminum hydride and forming products of variable composition TaHn(AlH4)4−n. 2. The solubility of tantalum and lithium chlorides at room temperature and that of their bromides in the interval −70 to +25° were determined. When tantalum pentabromide is treated with ether, it is reduced.
