Interaction of Plant Population Factors and Level of Production on the Yield and Grade of Peanuts1

Abstract

SynopsisIncreasing the plant population of NC‐2 peanuts by decreasing the row width generally increased the yield and improved the grade of the crop. The degree of this yield increase was found to be associated with the overall level of production. The percentage yield increase resulting from decreasing the row width was inversely proportional to the yield achieved in 36‐inch rows. Row width effects on yield became negligible when the level of production reached 3600 pounds per acre.
