Abstract

1. 1. The interaction of estradiol (E) and testosterone (T) on pullet ( Gallus domesticus) oviduct growth was investigated. 2. 2. Concomitant administration of E and T resulted in synergistic induction of oviduct growth. Total amounts of DNA, RNA and protein as well as RNA/DNA and protein/DNA ratios were considerably increased over that produced by E and T independently. 3. 3. Acrylamide electrophoresis indicated that E, in contrast to T, stimulates egg white protein formation. Combinations of E and T, as compared with E, induced the formation of egg white proteins whose patterns were qualitatively and quantitatively more similar to those of laying-hen oviduct and white proteins from the egg.
