Abstract

The interaction of Cr(III) with Chrome azurol S (CAS) in water–glycerol binary mixtures has been investigated by spectrophotometry. The absorption electronic spectra of Chrome azurol S and its complex with Cr(III) in water–glycerol media with glycerol contents from 10 to 50% by vol. have been measured. The stability constant of the complex in water–glycerol binary mixtures has been determined. It has been shown that the rate of reaction increases as the organic solvent content increases.
