Abstract

The interaction of butadiene with trimethylvinylsilane over a nickel chloride catalytic system in the presence of an organoaluminum Lewis acid and triphenylphosphine proceeds by telomerization and results in the formation of telomer homologs of general formula (CH 3CHCHCH 2) nCSi(CH 3) 3CH 2, n = 1–5. The reaction is accompanied by the formation of a dimer of trimethylvinylsilane 2,4-bis(trimethylsilyl)-1-butene (ca. 5–15%).
