Abstract

The reactions of bis(cyclopentadienyl)vanadium with organocadmium compounds in toluene solution at 20°C have been investigated. These reactions lead to the formation of metallic cadmium and vanadium(IV) compounds. The derivatives Cp 2VR 2 (where R  Et, Ph, CH 2Ph) decompose at 20°C to yield Cp 2VR. Cp 2VMe 2 is stable at 20°C for some months.
