Abstract

Auger spectra were obtained from selected small areas of PVC obtained after prolonged argon ion sputtering of silver covered PVC particles. The spectra show a non-stoichiometric chlorine concentration. Residual gas analysis during irradiation shows the evolution of chlorine. Thus, electron beam induced dissociation of the polymer surface is assumed responsible for this effect.
