Abstract
The elastic behavior of an edge dislocation parallel to an infinite lamellar inhomogeneity is considered. The elastic field in the matrix and lamella is obtained through the complex variable technique and the image method. The resulting formulas may be employed to solve the elasticity problem for any source of internal stress (plane elasticity) whose bulk field is known. The force on the dislocation is explicitly calculated and discussed. It is found that the behavior of the dislocation near a lamella differs in some important aspects from that of a dislocation near a bimetallic interface.
